HISTORY OF THE KEDRON-WAVELL SUB BRANCH RSL

 

Kedron Sub Branch

The Kedron Sub Branch was founded after War I. In 1928 it built its headquarters, the Kedron War Memorial School of Arts.  It was deeded to the Kedron Sub Branch in 1947.

Wavell Heights Sub Branch

The Wavell Heights Sub Branch was formed between the end of World War II in 1945 and 1950 and operated from Edinburgh Castle Road, Wavell Heights.

The Amalgamation

In 1968 Kedron Sub Branch and Wavell Sub Branch amalgamated to use their combined resources to create an Ex-Servicemen’s Club, becoming Kedron-Wavell Sub Branch RSL Inc.

In 1970 the building of a public Community Hall and adjoining Club premises was commenced at its current location in Kittyhawk Drive, Chermside and the Kedron-Wavell Sub Branch RSL opened in 18 December 1970, when the Kedron-Wavell Services Club was licensed for business.
