vSHADE Research trial to investigate the best methods for helping contemporary (aged forty-five and under) veterans who drink alcohol and experience depressive symptoms

Introducing  vSHADE, a new research project being carried out by The University of Newcastle in partnership with Aspen Medical funded by Defence Health Foundation.

vSHADE is an online research trial that aims to investigate the best methods for helping contemporary (aged forty-five and under) veterans who drink alcohol and experience depressive symptoms. Specifically we are trialling an evidence based online intervention and examining the relative impact of social network support on treatment. We have received approval from The Department of Veterans’ Affairs Human Research Ethics Committee (reference number E017/001) which allows us to invite ESOs to be partners with us in this project. It is recognised that your services connect broadly to the veteran cohort and it would be of great assistance if you and your team could provide the linkage between our research team and the veteran community. This could include marketing, recruiting participants, feedback and other ideas you may have to promote this important work. A member of our team would be very happy to meet with your service and talk through the project in more detail.
